Tiwerenge is a newspaper reading project that buys newspapers for primary and secondary schools. The brainchild of the project is CFED’s president Mr Albert Sharra who donated $150 from his JOURNALIST OF THE YEAR AWARD prize money confered by MISA Malawi in 2017. The money was used to buy newspapers ( Weekend Nation) for four schools for a period of six months from July 2017 to December 2017.
The aim is to bring current affairs closer to students and also improving the reading culture among the school-going children. By April 2019, eleven schools in Chilomoni Township namely; Mulunguzi CDSS, Michiru CCAP Primary, Mulunguzi Primary, Lumbira CDSS and John Paul II
Leadership & IT Institute are receiving free copies. Other schools are Ntambanyama primary school in Thyolo, Kankhate primary school in Mchinji, Livingstonia CDSS in Rumphi, Muloza CDSS in Mulanje, Vonkeni CDSS in Mulanje and Thyolo Secondary School in Thyolo. Each of the schools receives a Weekend Nation copy every week.
CFED uses money it raised from various activities and also invites alumni to buy newspapers for their former schols. Please email us through firstname.lastname@example.org for more
